Members Present: Marcus Carruthers , Melvin Collins, Belinda Cosgrove, Dennis Cottrell, Robin Davis, Dennis Fuller, Rhonda Hadley, Fran Hall, Amy Hopson, Lee Johnson, Andy Jones, Peggy Kendrick, Jeane Mack , Trandon Moy, Sharron Murry, Kristi Padgett, Chad Pettigrew, Briann Pickard, Aleanio Shamka, Jimmy Wesson
Non Members Present: Jimmy Brown, Dorcy Corbin, Scott Tanner
Meeting called to order at 11: 05a.m. by Belinda Cosgrove
Fran Hall made motion to approve the minutes from June 16, 2009 meeting without reading aloud. Marcus Carruthers seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Belinda Cosgrove gave treasures report. Belinda spoke about AJDA getting their own Debit/ Visa bank card.
Jeane Mack made a motion to get Debit/Visa bank card. For AJDA Lee Johnson seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Old Business
Marcus Carruthers gave an update on the AJDA website.
2010 Spring Training will be held in Little Rock. The date and location of training will be announced at a later time.
New Business
Belinda Cosgrove spoke about the upcoming ACJJ Conference
Belinda Cosgrove gave a website for information on H1N1.
Belinda Cosgrove handed out folders with grant information available to all facilities.
Belinda Cosgrove stated that it is a law if you offer physical education you must have a defibrillator in the building. The Antonio Hobbs grant is available to help with the purchase of a defibrillator.
Belinda Cosgrove spoke about the meeting that she and Kristi Padgett attended at the governor’s office concerning juvenile standards.

Meeting called back to order at 12:00p.m. by Belinda Cosgrove
Belinda Cosgrove spoke about a letter she had received from Marcia Harding concerning the six hours of required education and that it would take effect this year.
Scott Tanner and Darcy Corbin spoke about concerns they had heard during spring training.
Scott Tanner stated that his and Darcy’s visits to the detention centers to speak with the juveniles had been concerning their defense attorneys and their due process. Scott stated that some juveniles were being denied their due process rights.
Scott Tanner stated there are some changes that need to be made in the juvenile standards. Scott also spoke about the meeting at the governor’s office and his actions at the meeting.
Scott Tanner spoke about the housing and education of FINS juveniles while in detention.
Dorcy Corbin spoke about educational services, recreational activities and rehabilitation services. Dorcy also spoke about FINS and Eighteen year old juveniles being held in juvenile detention centers.
Scott Tanner and Dorcy Corbin opened the floor for questions and comments.
Next AJDA meeting will be at the 2009 ACJJ conference October 20-22, 2009. Belinda Cosgrove is going to contact Gwen Trigleth-Jackson to get a date and time for the meeting.
Fran Hall made motion to adjourn. Kristi Padgett seconded motion. Meeting adjourned at 12:25p.m.
